Newcastle United will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon as they try to collect maximum points at home in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss at the hands of Manchester City recently which has drained their confidence ahead of this game.
Eddie Howe will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and could make a couple of changes to his first XI for this game. Joe Willock and Allan Saint-Maximin will play from the start of this Premier League clash at Tyneside.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Nick Pope will operate in goal for the Magpies after shipping in a couple of goals versus Man City recently. Jamaal Lascelles will function alongside Sven Botman at the centre of Newcastle’s defence as they try to keep things solid at the back and keep the Wolves attackers at bay during the game.
Kieran Trippier will operate as the right-back while Dan Burn looks to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would be instructed to maintain a solid shape when defending inside their half and try to engineer some promising chances for their teammates up top.
Matt Targett will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench. However, Emil Krafth and Fabian Schar will miss this game due to injuries.
Midfield
Howe could name a midfield three of Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff as they focus on making life difficult for Wolves at the centre of the park.
Joelinton is suspended for this game after collecting ten yellow cards during this campaign. However, Elliot Anderson should be available for a place on the bench and might come on to give a good account of himself in the second half if required.
Attack
Allan Saint-Maximin could get an opportunity to impress as the left-sided wide player while Miguel Almiron looks to catch the eye on the right. Both of them need to put their pace to good use when making runs in behind the opponent’s backline.
Alexander Isak will function as Newcastle’s main centre-forward up top. The French striker has to find a way to threaten the Wolves goal this Sunday.
Anthony Gordon and Callum Wilson will have to settle for a spot on Howe’s bench as they wait for their chance to shine as the late-game substitutes if Newcastle are in need of a goal.
