Jose Mourinho has advised Anthony Martial to listen to him, not to his agent.
Martial once again proved why Louis Van Gaal spent a whopping £36m to sign him from Monaco. He produced his best performance of the season so far as Manchester United rallied from behind to defeat Middlesbrough 2-1 which was their fifth consecutive win in the Premier League.
Grant Leadbitter’s opener was cancelled by Anthony Martial. Paul Pogba then headed home from a Juan Mata cross to give United a crucial three points. Earlier Anthony Martial’s agent hinted that he is looking for a new club for his agent with Sevilla being an option. Despite being United’s top scorer last season he had very limited match time this season.
Mourinho said, “He played, he created, he scored, he fought. I think he was very positive. I know he’s a top talent.
“Anthony has to listen to me, and not listen to his agent. He has to listen to me in training every day and listen to the feedback I give to try to improve players.
“With [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan, almost every day, his agent called me and said, ‘Mkhitaryan with you will become a better player, keep going.’
“With Martial, I every day I read in the newspaper, ‘Martial goes to Sevilla, Martial goes on loan, Martial is not happy.’ Martial has to listen to me.”
