Arsene Wenger has praised Olivier Giroud’s quality and claimed that the striker is in his long term plans. Wenger has so far preferred Alexis Sanchez over Giroud for the Centre forward role. The Chilean has been excellent in his new position as he already bagged a dozen goals in the Premier League.
Giroud was injured for a longer period and has been mostly used as an impact substitute this term. He scored a couple of late goals for the North Londoners including a one against Manchester United.
Wenger handed his first start to the French international in the match against West Brom and the player didn’t disappoint his boss as he scored the only goal of the match. He followed it up with a brilliant scorpion kick goal yesterday against Crystal Palace as Arsenal went on to win 2-0.
The gaffer said, “For me in my head he is a regular player, in his head he is a regular player, so when he doesn’t play of course he is frustrated but he can still help the squad.
“He has different qualities from other strikers, and he has shown that again against West Brom.
“He is a fighter, a winner, and he uses his body well to bring other people in, and sometimes with his feet, sometimes with his head.
“So overall, when I think we need his qualities we play him.
“He accepts that, not well, but we are in a competitive world and unfortunately I can only start 11 players.”
