Conte’s start to the season wasn’t the smoothest as the Blues were thumped by Arsenal. Since then though, Conte has switched to the three at the back system and no one has been able to take points off them. Reports indicate the Italian is keen on a reunion with the midfield dynamo who was instrumental in the all-conquering Juventus side under Conte. According to the same reports, Bayern Munich is likely to ask around £40m for Arturo Vidal. Chelsea are apparently mulling a £38m offer for this world class midfielder.
Chelsea’s midfield has been immense this season as the duo of Kanté and Matic have offered solid protection to the three-man backline and have been potent while going forward. Matic’s distribution has helped the team but you get the feeling that if Vidal does sign, he’ll be the one who’ll be replaced.
Vidal is at the peak of his athletic career and after spells in German and Italy, this would arguably be the ideal time to move to the Premier League before entering the dusk of his career.
Vidal is likely to slot seamlessly in Conte’s 3-4-3 setup. His partnership with Kanté could be mouth-watering, to say the least. An all-action midfielder, Vidal has been one of the best midfielders in world football for some time now. The Chilean has everything in his repertoire to succeed in the Premier League and considering he’s had spells in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, the move to the Premier League is unlikely to unsettle him.
The Bundesliga is closest to the Premier League when it comes to the style of play as games are fast-paced and end to end. He has an incredible engine and could be a potent box to box midfielder who can help Conte in the grand scheme of things. The money Chelsea will be getting for Oscar should be enough to sign Vidal.
