Newcastle United entertained Liverpool at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the tenth minute when Darwin Nunez found the back of the net with a powerful strike. Cody Gakpo made it 2-0 to Liverpool just seven minutes later when he scored from close range. Newcastle dug themselves into an even bigger hole soon after as Nick Pope was sent off for handling the ball outside his penalty box. The Tyneside club went into the half-time interval 2-0 down on the scoreline.
