In a recent report, Rudy Galetti stated that Liverpool have identified Red Bull Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol as a target. It has been claimed that the Reds are eyeing a move to land the Croatia international in the summer.
Gvardiol’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Red Bull Arena This Season
Gvardiol is having a solid campaign in German football after he put in a run of dominant performances for Leipzig on the defensive end of the field. The 21-year-old has registered one goal in 25 appearances for the German club this season across various competitions.
The Croatia international has established himself as a solid presence at the heart of Leipzig’s backline based on his average of 0.6 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back after completing 88.7% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Leipzig is set to expire in the summer of 2027. Therefore, Liverpool will have to pay a mammoth fee if they are to convince Leipzig to cash in on the Croat talent at the end of this campaign.

Gvardiol is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to make a few timely interceptions for his team on the defensive end of the pitch. Standing at 1.85m, Gvardiol can use his strong frame to win some 50-50 duels in the air and is destined to have a great future in European football. Thus, Liverpool will do well to get him on board in the summer if they have the funds to pull off such a transfer.
