Chelsea will clash heads with Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night, hoping to pick up a positive result away from home. The visitors will be coming into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with West Ham United, whereas the BVB recorded a 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen.
Graham Potter will probably opt for the 3-5-2 formation; however, he is expected to make a couple of changes for the upcoming contest as Trevoh Chalobah looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
3-5-2 Chelsea Predicted Lineup Vs Borussia Dortmund
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to start between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The Spanish shot-stopper would hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Wednesday.
Thiago Silva is expected to start at the heart of Blues’ backline, whereas Trevoh Chalobah will feature in the left centre-back spot. Cesar Azpilicueta will fulfil the right centre-back position.
Midfield
Enzo Fernandez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek might fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the former occupying a more central role. The pair would be looking to dominate the midfield proceedings in midweek.
Marc Cucurella might start at the left wing-back position, whereas Reece James will fill in on the other flank as the right wing-back. The duo would be expected to stretch Chelsea’s attacks in the opposition half.
Joao Felix might slot in as the attacking midfielder.
Mason Mount will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could be brought on in the latter stages of the game if needed.
Attack
Mykhaylo Mudryk and Kai Havertz will slot into the striker roles. The duo would be determined to find the back of the net when they face off against the Dortmund defence that has conceded just three goals in their last five matches across all competitions.
Noni Madueke might come on to make a cameo appearance in the second forty-five minutes.
