According to a report from Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have been handed a significant boost in their pursuit of Mason Mount’s signature as the Chelsea star is not in agreement with the Blues regarding his contract renewal. Mount believes that he should be paid more than what the West London club have offered him in a new deal which could mean that the Reds could meet his demands to bring him to Anfield at the end of this season.
Mount’s Recent Form At Chelsea This Season
Mount seems to be having a tough campaign at Stamford Bridge as of late as he has struggled to be productive in the final third. Still, the 24-year-old deserves some credit for finding the back of the net on three occasions and creating six assists over 28 appearances across all fronts for the West London club this season.
The English sensation has proven to be reliable in the attacking third by averaging 1.5 tackles, 1.6 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been excellent when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 80.5% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Mount’s current contract at Stamford Bridge lasts until the summer of 2024, so the Merseysiders could sign him at a cut-price deal at the end of this season if they agree to his wage demands.
How Will He Fit Into Liverpool?
Mount often tracks back on defence showing a high defensive work rate and is a solid tackler of the ball as well. He can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from a long range and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in front of the goal. The English forward has the ability to make a few promising runs down the left flank and can retain possession well for his side in the opponent’s half.
However, Mount has to find a way to improve his productivity in the final third if he wants to be even more successful at the highest level. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but remains extremely versatile in the attacking third as he can virtually feature on both the flanks and even operate in the central areas.
We can expect Mount to add more goals and creativity to Jurgen Klopp‘s attack at the Merseyside club. He could even help the Reds get back in form to challenge for the Premier League title next season as they’ve plunged to the tenth position after just being a shadow of themselves compared to their last campaign.
Mount ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Klopp demands from his players. Hence, Liverpool should consider approaching him early on to reach an agreement before any new developments from the Blues force a new turn of events.
