In a recent print edition, Kicker revealed that Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow is on the radar of West Ham United. It has been claimed that the Hammers could face competition from Aston Villa in the race to land the Swiss talent.
Sow’s Impressive Season In German Football This Season
Sow is experiencing a decent campaign in Frankfurt as he has been responsible for producing a few impressive displays at the centre of the park. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net twice but has failed to pick up an assist in 27 appearances for the German club this season across all fronts.
The 36-time Switzerland international has given a good account of himself based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.7 shots and 0.6 key passes per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 86% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
The Zurich-born sensation is under contract in Frankfurt until the summer of 2024. Hence, the Hammers would be wise to arrange a cut-price move for him at the end of this season.

Sow is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from midfield. Sow mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.
The Swiss midfield ace can even strike the ball with venom from long range. Hence, he would be a shrewd acquisition for West Ham United if David Moyes can engineer a move for him on the cheap next summer.
