We have the New Year of 2017 knocking at the door and what a game we have on our hands to welcome the New Year and bid a goodbye to the year of 2016 which has been brilliant for both clubs. Rangers achieved their much-awaited promotion to the Premiership after four long years and have been doing quite a decent job in their comeback campaign.
They are still far away from giving a proper title challenge to Celtic who look at some other level now but they are pretty much in control of the second spot.
Rangers have the opportunity to spoil Celtic’s party on the New Year’s Eve. Rodgers is yet to be beaten in any domestic game thus far since his arrival and will be keen to head into the winter break staying unbeaten.
The Gers will be looking to take a revenge of their 5-1 loss in hands of their rivals in the reverse Premiership encounter.
Combined Rangers And Celtic Lineup
Defence
It’s not even really a contest between Craig Gordon and Wes Foderingham for a place under the bar. It will be Craig Gordon without any shadow of a doubt.
At right-back, Mikael Lustig will easily get the nod ahead of James Tavernier.
Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic will be the central defenders ahead of Rangers’ available duo Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson.
Celtic’s first choice left-back Kieran Tierney and Rangers’ first choice left-back Kieran Tierney both are out with injuries. With the kind of form Lee Hodson has been of late, he will certainly get into the lineup at left-back ahead of Emilio Izaguirre.
