Arsene Wenger has backed Mesut Ozil saying that ‘the player is far more committed than earlier.’
Arsenal lost two back to back matches against Everton and Manchester City before restoring some pride by edging West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the last match. They will next face Crystal Palace on the first day of the next year.
Ozil has often been blamed for his body language and laid back attitude. The German playmaker has already passed his last season’s goal scoring number. There have been concerns over Ozil’s performances in the big games. His ability to overturn a match is remarkable but over the past, and this season, Ozil was pretty shambolic against Manchester City and Manchester United.
Ozil was the provider of Giroud’s goal against the baggies. Defending his player Wenger said, “He is a huge player. I have always defended him
“He has improved his commitment and works harder than people think he does.
“I still think there is a gap between his potential finishing and the way he does.
“He works hard but he had one or two games where he was frustrated.
“The one that comes to my mind is the Manchester City game where he was criticised but when you look at his whole contribution he has done fantastic.”
