In a recent report, Alsa’ Sports offered an update on the future of Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson. It has been revealed that the Villans’ talent is inching closer to joining a Ligue 1 club during this January transfer window.
Sanson’s Limited Role In English Football This Season
The 28-year-old has struggled to play a prominent role at Villa Park this season and is currently finding himself on the fringes of Unai Emery’s match-day squad. Sanson has only been involved in three matches for the West Midlands club during this campaign, finding the back of the net once in the process across multiple competitions.
The French sensation is in dire need of securing more playing time if he wants to get his football career back on track.
Sanson is under contract at Aston Villa until the summer of 2025. However, he has been a sporadic presence in Emery’s squad and should opt for a change of scenery before the end of this month.

He mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as an attacking midfielder or as a holding midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.
However, Sanson lacks confidence at the moment due to his limited role at Villa Park this season. He is facing an uncertain future after falling behind Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn at the West Midlands club. Sanson has failed to prove his worth in Premier League football and could benefit a lot from switching clubs soon.
Therefore, it is only fair to the player if Unai Emery decides to cut him loose before the end of this winter transfer period.
