According to a recent report from The Sun, it was stated that Arsenal are targeting Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen after they were dealt a huge blow by Chelsea in the race to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk. The Gunners are keen on bringing in attacking reinforcements in the current transfer window and they’ve identified Diaby as a decent alternative to Mudryk.
Diaby’s Impressive Numbers In The Bundesliga
Diaby is having a great campaign at Bay Arena as he has been responsible for putting in several influential performances as the focal point of Leverkusen’s attack. The 23-year-old has featured in 21 matches for the German outfit this season, scoring eight times and grabbing three assists in multiple competitions.
The French forward deserves a lot of credit for being consistent and reliable in the final third after averaging 1.9 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has also been tidy with his ball distribution in the final third based on his pass success rate of 80.9% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Bay Arena will expire in 2025. Hence, the North London club will have to launch a big-money offer if they are serious about recruiting the talented attacker.

Diaby possesses the ability to create space for himself to land a few shots in at the target and can be a prolific finisher in front of the opponent’s half when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. The young forward is also proficient at engineering some decent openings for his teammates in and around the penalty box by making a few decisive passes to split the opposition. Furthermore, he can strike the ball with power and accuracy from a distance.
He is primarily a right winger but remains versatile enough to feature anywhere in the final third which makes him a brilliant addition to Arteta’s frontline. At the moment, Diaby is playing at a high level. Hence, he will be a good choice for the Gunners as he could bring a lot of firepower to the attacking department at the Emirates Stadium.
We can expect Diaby to inject some pace and quality into Arsenal’s attack. He has what it takes to make himself a regular starter at the club. However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal can devise a way to bring him aboard without having to pay a massive fee in the process.
