According to Football.London, Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow in their transfer plans to bolster their attack as Brighton & Hove Albion CEO reportedly denied selling any player in this transfer market. This hampers Graham Potter’s plans of bringing Leandro Trossard aboard at Stamford Bridge after showing keen interest.
Trossard’s Campaign With Brighton So Far This Season
Trossard is enjoying a brilliant campaign at the American Express Community Stadium after producing several influential displays on the attacking front. He has managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions and grabbed two assists over seventeen appearances across all fronts.
The Belgian forward has been consistent and reliable in the final third after averaging 2.4 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he will have to distribute the ball better as he has only completed 74.4% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Should Chelsea Boss Graham Potter Convince Brighton Into Selling?
Trossard can create space for himself to get a few shots in at goal and can be a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence up top. He can even create an odd chance for his teammates to set them up in front of the goal and has the ability to make some dangerous runs inside the opponent’s half.
The 28-year-old remains extremely versatile in the final third as he can virtually play anywhere in the central areas while also operating on the left flank and occasionally leading the charge down the middle when needed.
We can expect him to inject more firepower into Chelsea’s attacking department at Stamford Bridge. His arrival would also bring more competition into the final third even though Graham Potter has enough attackers at his disposal. At 28, Trossard is currently at his prime and could be a decent option for the Blues to call upon off the bench.
However, with Brighton setting the record straight regarding their transfer business this month, Potter has no choice but to drop his plans for Trossard at the moment and look for other alternatives.
