In a very bad news for Liverpool fans, Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that both Joel Matip and Philippe Coutinho will not be available for the Manchester City match.
Since his arrival from Schalke in the summer, Matip has been battling ankle injuries. The 25-year-old recovered from the injury but again suffered a setback against West Ham United. He missed Liverpool’s last three matches and Ragnar Klavan has been partnering Dejan Lovren in the heart of Liverpool defence.
Coutinho was supposed to feature against Manchester City but his return has been further delayed. The Brazilian continues to recover from his ankle injury that he sustained against Sunderland.
Klopp ruled out the possibility of playing the playmaker citing that it would be too early for him, “No. He is in a good way, a really good way – I spoke to him a few minutes ago.
“But the City game, for sure, is too early and if the City game is too early then I am pretty sure the Sunderland game is too early, too. That’s it.”
