In a recent report, Corriere dello Sport mentioned that Liverpool are among clubs hoping to land Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat. It has been revealed that the Reds could face competition in the form of Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla in pursuit of the Moroccan sensation.
Amrabat’s Impressive Run Of Form In Club And International Football This Season
The 26-year-old has enjoyed a solid campaign in both club and intentional football as he managed to perform at his best for Fiorentina and the Moroccan national team. Amrabat has made 20 appearances for both his club and country this season across all fronts. He even managed to help Morocco secure a fourth-place finish in the 2022 FIFA World Cup which was held in Qatar last year.
Amrabat deserves a lot of credit for averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.5 clearances and 0.5 key passes per game in Serie A football this season. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 90.8% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Florence club is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Hence, Liverpool will have to make a big offer if they want to sign Amrabat this January or wait until the end of this campaign when they could potentially land him on a cut-price deal.
Is Amrabat A Good Option For Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp?
Amrabat is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to make a few important interceptions for his team. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. The Morocco international can even create some decent plays for others around him when he is playing with confidence on the field.
At the moment, Amrabat is playing some of his best football. Thus, we can expect him to enhance the quality of Jurgen Klopp‘s squad if the Liverpool boss can find a way to get him on board this year.
Amrabat is good enough to add some serious competition for Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons. He could even serve as an ideal replacement for James Milner, who has entered the final stage of his playing career at Anfield. All in all, Amrabat will be an excellent option for the Reds to consider this winter or at the end of this campaign.
