We are just a few days away from the winter break and what a game we have on our hands to sign off from the Premiership action before the break. It is the biggest footballing event in Scotland on the New Year’s Eve. It‘s Rangers vs Celtic- the day when Glasgow gets divided into two halves. What Rangers and Celtic share is much beyond just a rivalry.
Rangers will host the Old Firm Derby this time out at Ibrox and will be keen to get revenge for the two losses against the Hoops earlier this season. When two sides met each other earlier in the Premiership, it ended 5-1 in Celtic’s favour. Then, the duo met in the semi-final of the League Cup and Rangers lost by a narrow one-goal margin.
Celtic boast an unbeaten record in domestic competitions under Rodgers and will be keen to keep it that day before the winter break and if Rangers can pull off an upset, it’ll take the shine away from what has been a fantastic year so far.
Celtic are 16 points ahead of Rangers in the table and that too, with a game in hand. Rangers coming back in the title race from this position will be too big a task but a win could damage Celtic’s morale and Warburton will be keen to do that.

Defence
Wes Foderingham will certainly keep his place under the bar. Lee Hodson was on the bench in the last game against St. Johnstone which Rangers failed to win. The Northern Irishman is likely to make a return to the starting XI and start at left-back with skipper Lee Wallace out injured.
James Tavernier will keep his place at right-back. Celtic have a quick attacking setup and therefore, we expect veteran Clint Hill to make way for Danny Wilson in the starting XI at centre-back alongside Rob Kiernan.
