In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram is on the radar of Barcelona. It has been revealed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to sign the French talent who is currently on an expiring contract at Monchengladbach.
Thuram’s Decent Numbers At Borussia-Park This Season
Thuram has put in a series of impressive displays for both his club and country during this campaign. The French talent has caught the eye with his performances at the Borussia-Park as he has banged in 13 goals and grabbed four assists in 17 matches for the German club this season across multiple competitions.
The 25-year-old has proven his worth as a reliable performer by averaging 3.7 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. However, he has been a bit sloppy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 73.3% of his attempted passes in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with the German club is set to run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Barca will do well to land him on the cheap this winter or sign him on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Snap Thuram Up Next Year?
Thuram has got the pace to get in behind the opposition backline and can make some dangerous runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can create some inviting chances for others around him in the final third and is a good striker of the ball as well from long range. Thuram is versatile enough to play anywhere across the frontline. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if asked to do so.
The France international has added plenty of goals to his game this season. Hence, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Barcelona to pull off next year.
Thuram will no doubt bring more pace and goals to Xavi‘s attacking department at the Nou Camp. He is already good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Catalan club and could help Xavi’s side challenge for a few major honours in the coming seasons.
At 25, Thuram will only get better when he reaches his prime in the future. Hence, Barca should be optimistic about their chances of securing the services of the French centre-forward during the January transfer window or next summer.
