In a recent tweet, Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti mentioned that Barcelona have identified Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as a target. It has been claimed that the Catalan outfit are eyeing a move for the Morocco international next year.
El Barça ha preguntado por Amrabat para verano. El jugador ya sabe que gusta en Barcelona, pero los 40M que pide la Fiore lo alejan del Camp Nou. El Tottenham está bien colocado. #fcblivehttps://t.co/YCUYqdkT9z

Amrabat’s Impressive Run Of Form For Both Fiorentina And Morocco
Amrabat is experiencing a solid campaign in Italian football as he has anchored the midfield really well at times for Fiorentina. The 26-year-old has been involved in 32 matches for both his club and country this season but has failed to score or assist a goal across all competitions.
The Morocco international has recently caught the eye by averaging 2.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.9 long balls and 1.4 clearances per game in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He even distributed the ball with conviction for Morocco after completing 85.4% of his attempted passes in that competition (stats via whoscored ).
His current contract at the Florence club is set to run out in the summer of 2024. Therefore, Barca would be wise to engineer a cut-price move to bring him to the Nou Camp next summer.
What Will Amrabat Bring To Barcelona?
Amrabat is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his side in the middle of the pitch. He is usually quick to read the danger and remains a good passer of the ball as well. However, the Morocco midfield ace has to find a way to be more productive in the final third. Amrabat is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if his manager asks him to do so.
Still, there is no denying that Amrabat has what it takes to serve as a useful presence in Xavi’s match-day squad if the Barcelona boss can devise a way to bring him on board in 2023.
At 26, Amrabat has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for Barce to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. We can expect the Moroccan sensation to bring more bite and steel to Xavi‘s midfield department at the Nou Camp.
Amrabat has his best years ahead of him and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Catalan club. He could even help Barcelona close the gap to Real Madrid at the top of Spanish football and maybe even compete for the UEFA Champions League trophy in the coming seasons.
