In a recent report, La Viola News mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a three-battle for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. It has been claimed that Spurs will have to rival Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the Morocco international.
Amrabat’s Solid Season In Italian Football
Amrabat is having a solid campaign at Florence as he has managed to produce a string of solid displays at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old has featured in 32 matches for the Italian club this season but is yet to register a goal or an assist for both his club and country across various competitions.
The talented midfield ace has offered decent protection for his teammates at the back by averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 0.5 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 90.8% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
The 46-time Morocco international is under contract at Fiorentina until the summer of 2024. Hence, Spurs might have a good chance of bringing him to North London on the cheap next summer.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Antonio Conte Snap Amrabat Up?
Amrabat is a good tackler of the ball and can make life difficult for the opposition in the middle of the pitch. He can sense the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team in midfield and usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. Amrabat mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a holding midfielder if his manager asks him to do so.
The Moroccan sensation is a good passer of the ball as well and would no doubt be a welcome acquisition for Tottenham Hotspur next year. He will bring a lot of bite and steel to Antonio Conte‘s midfield department at the North London club. However, there are some concerns over whether the Fiorentina midfield ace is good enough to cope with the physical side and high intensity of English football.
At 26, Amrabat will only get better in the coming seasons and could help Spurs challenge for some top honours over the next few years. He will give Conte more options at the centre of the park. Therefore, the Tottenham boss should try everything in his power to snap him up this January or at the end of this campaign.
