In a recent report, journalist Alfredo Pedulla stated that Manchester City are hoping to launch a move for Red Bull Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. It has been claimed that Man City are ready to make a big move to bring the Croatia international to the Etihad Stadium next year.
Gvardiol’s Solid Run Of Form In German Football
Gvardiol is having a solid campaign at the Red Bull Arena as he has continued to be a rock at the back for Leipzig over the past few months. He has even enjoyed a decent 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament with Croatia.
The 20-year-old has been involved in 19 matches for the German club this season, finding the back of the net once in various competitions. Gvardiol has been a dominant presence on the defensive end of the field based on his average of 0.6 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 0.5 shots and 0.6 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the back after making 89.1% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
Gvardiol is under contract at Leipzig until the summer of 2027. Hence, Man City will have to launch a convincing offer if they want to bring the Croat defensive ace to England next year.
