In a recent report, The Daily Mirror claimed that Aston Villa have identified Villarreal ace Arnaut Danjuma as a January target. It is understood that the Villans are eyeing a move for the Dutch striker during the winter transfer period.
Danjuma’s Unimpressive Season At The Estadio de la Cerámica
Danjuma is having an up-and-down campaign in Spain as he has managed to put in some productive displays but has also been guilty of being inconsistent in front of the opposition’s goal. The 25-year-old has banged in four goals but has registered no assists in 14 matches for Villarreal this season across all fronts.
The Dutch talent has struggled to be consistent with his performances in the final third based on his average of 0.9 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also been a bit sloppy when linking up play in and around the opponent’s penalty box after completing 72.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Danjuma’s current contract with the Yellow Submarine is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, the Villans might find it difficult to get him on board next year.
What Will Danjuma Bring To Aston Villa?
Danjuma has got decent pace under his belt and can make a few quick runs in behind the opponent’s backline. He can create some decent openings for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with power and precision from long range. Danjuma mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also function as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, he has struggled to be productive with his performances in front of the opposition goal.
Still, we can expect the Dutch talent to bring some much-needed firepower to Aston Villa‘s frontline at Villa Park. He is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings at the West Midlands club in the coming seasons.
At the moment, Danjuma is struggling to perform at his best. However, the Villans boss Unai Emery knows the player from their time together at Villarreal and would be the perfect man to oversee his development and get the best out of him over the next few years. At 25, Danjuma is about to enter his prime which makes him a good choice for Aston Villa to pursue when the transfer window commences at the start of next month.
