Sam Allardyce has targeted Arsenal left back Kieran Gibbs to make his first signing. The left back has fallen down in the pecking order since the arrival of Nacho Monreal from Malaga. Gibbs has had very limited appearances this season as he has played in only five games.
The 27-year old currently has 18 months left on his contract and big Sam wants to use this opportunity to lure the player to Selhurst Park.
Gibbs played in the last match, a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion but suffered a kick to his knee. Wenger hasn’t decided whether to offer him a contract or not and could consider selling him to buy a better full-back.
The left back also attracted interest from Swansea earlier. Crystal Palace don’t have depth in their defensive section, especially when it comes to left backs. Joel Ward hasn’t been that good and the addition of Gibbs would surely lend depth to the squad.
Arsenal could prefer to cash in on the defender in January rather than lose him for free later.
