Swansea City made their second managerial sacking this season after relieving Bob Bradley of his duties just 85 days after hiring him. At the time of Bradley’s arrival, Swansea were above the relegation zone only on goal difference but have picked up just eight points out of a possible 33 since, conceding 29 goals in the process. The Welsh club are in deep trouble right now and have a mountain to climb to stave off relegation.
As per ESPN, Swansea City are looking to replace the American boss as soon as possible and have made a three-man shortlist to replace him. The three candidates are Chris Coleman, Alan Pardew and Ryan Giggs. Here are the pros and cons of hiring three managers.
Chris Coleman
Pros
The 46-year-old would be a popular choice with Swans fans, being one of their own. He is a local boy and will do everything in his powers to help the Swans come back to their best. He stunned the whole Europe with Wales in the Euros. Many would say it was only because of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey but the manager’s good work should not be underestimated.
Cons
The Welshman is keen to get Wales into the World Cup 2018 which might be a big problem for Swans. Luring Coleman to Swansea at the moment seems a hard ask for this reason.
Alan Pardew
Pros
Pardew has proven Premier League experience. He also entertains counter-attacking football which Swansea need right now. Another good thing about Pardew is he always has had good starts at every club he has managed. All Swansea need now is a good run for like 7-8 games and that could save them from the drop, Pardew could be a good option for the job.
Cons
Pardew’s biggest con is his inconsistency. He managed to win just 6 Premier League games with Palace throughout 2016. Pardew is certainly an option but comes with plenty of risks. His reigns have often ended acrimoniously in the past.
Ryan Giggs
Pros
One of the most decorated footballers in the history of English football, Giggs is eager to kick off his managerial career. Having worked under Sir Alex Ferguson and Louis van Gaal, he has some experience.
Cons
The biggest con for Giggs is Swansea cannot afford to give him time and he needs it badly. No matter how good a footballer you are, having the same success as a manager is not the easiest job and Giggs taking too much time might hurt Swansea in the end.
