In a recent print edition, Record stated that Real Madrid have set their sights on Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes. It is believed that Los Blancos are hoping to bolster their attack by recruiting the Portugal international next year.
Fernandes’ Impressive Run Of Form At Old Trafford This Season
Fernandes has enjoyed a productive campaign at the Theatre of Dreams after putting in several influential displays as a key member of Erik ten Hag’s attack. The 28-year-old has scored three goals and grabbed three assists in 20 matches for Man United this season across multiple competitions.
The Portuguese playmaker has given a good account of himself on the attacking third of the pitch as he is averaging 2.0 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 2.0 shots, 2.5 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 77.8% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Fernandes is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026. Hence, Los Blancos would have to land a big-money offer if they want to lure the Portuguese talent to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next year.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Get Fernandes On Board?
Fernandes remains an excellent playmaker in the final third as he has got a knack for creating some promising chances for others around him in the opponent’s half. He can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range and can make some dangerous runs toward the opposition penalty box. Fernandes is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if needed.
Fernandes will no doubt add more goals and creativity to Real Madrid‘s attack if Carlo Ancelotti can devise a way to recruit him in 2023. He could go on to form a lethal attacking partnership with Vinicius Junior at the Madrid club in the coming seasons. However, it would take a big offer for Los Blancos to stand a chance of securing the services of the talented attacker.
Fernandes would also go a long way in replacing Luka Modric’s creativity at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the long run. Therefore, Ancelotti should focus on getting the Portuguese sensation on board next year as he could help Los Blancos maintain their dominance in both domestic and European football by winning even more major trophies in the future.
