Jurgen Klopp has hailed Daniel Sturridge after the striker put a very spirited display against Stoke City. Liverpool defeated the Potters 4-1 with goals from Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and an own goal from Giannelli Imbula.
Liverpool came into the game with a 1-0 victory over arch-rivals Everton. Klopp didn’t include Sturridge in the starting lineup but decided to call up the Englishman in place of Divock Origi at the 70th minute.
The 27-year-old proved to be an impact substitution as he scored the fourth goal of his team. He latched on a Ryan Shawcross back pass and rounded it off past the Stoke keeper. This is only his second goal of this season in the Premier League.
Klopp said after the match, “We forced two goals with our quality – both really important
“It was a wonderful third goal and Daniel closed the game.
“What Daniel did was perfect.
“Stoke couldn’t play the same half again, they played aggressive and in the end, we deserved this result. Stoke couldn’t play the same half again, they played aggressive and in the end, we deserved this result.”
