In a recent interview (via Football.London), Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink urged Chelsea to move in for Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane. Hasselbaink told the Blues to focus on Kane rather than a move for Cristiano Ronaldo as he said,
“I would have done Ronaldo for Chelsea in the summer, for one year, but obviously now I think the priorities are bigger in the summer.
“I would try to persuade Kane to come.
“That would be a very controversial move, but surely he’s going to want to win things. Surely he knows he’s not going to win with Spurs.
“Surely, he’s not enjoying the way he is playing at the moment and where he’s playing. I know they’re all doing the shift for the team, but the majority of the time, when they don’t have the ball, he’s 10 meters away from his own box.
“You know, so surely he’s not going to want to be playing like that for the next 3-4 years. You know, surely he would want to be with the club that is going to go for it and is going to try to win trophies or are going to be closer to winning the trophies, so for me, they should go for him.”
Kane’s Impressive Record At The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium This Season
Kane is having a decent campaign at North London after putting in several influential displays as the spearhead of Antonio Conte’s attack. The 29-year-old has featured in 22 matches for Spurs this season, netting 13 goals and securing three assists in all competitions.
The English talent has been a reliable performer in the final third as he is averaging 3.7 shots, 1.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he needs to link up play a little better deep inside the opponent’s half, based on his pass success rate of 73.3% in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Is Kane A Dream Signing For Chelsea Boss Graham Potter?
Kane excels at finding space for himself to get a few shots in on-target and can shoot the ball cleanly and accurately from all ranges. He has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the final third and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box.
At the moment, the England international is enjoying his time with his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar which is taking place right now.
A world-class striker like Kane will inject plenty of goals into Chelsea boss Graham Potter‘s attack. He will be a dream signing for the Blues as he is well-equipped to serve as Chelsea’s new number nine over the next few years. Furthermore, Kane could help the West London club challenge for some major honours in the future.
