In a recent report, Sports World Ghana mentioned that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Ajax talent Mohammed Kudus. It has been mentioned that the Reds have recently sent scouts to catch the talented attacker in action for Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is taking place in Qatar right now.
Kudus’ Impressive Numbers At The Johan Cruyff Arena
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at the Amsterdam club as he has put in a series of influential displays as one of the focal points of their attack. Kudus has banged in ten goals and grabbed a couple of assists in 21 matches for the Dutch outfit this season on all fronts.
The Ghana international has made most of his league appearances off the bench but has performed well to average 1.8 shots and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back after completing 85.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Kudus is under contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until the summer of 2025. Hence, the Reds will have to make a good offer if they want to land the gifted talent next year.
What Will Kudus Bring To Liverpool?
Kudus can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has added a lot of goals to his game this season. The 18-time Ghana international is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can engineer some meaningful chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch when he is playing with confidence.
At the moment, Kudus is playing at a high level and would bring a handful of goals to Jurgen Klopp‘s frontline at Anfield. He is good enough to serve as an ideal, long-term successor to Roberto Firmino at the Merseyside club.
Kudus is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a centre-forward if his manager asks him to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he has what it takes to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of regular first-team football in the Premier League.
At 22, the future is quite bright for the Ghanaian speedster as long as he improves his all-around game with each year. Therefore, Liverpool should focus on getting a deal done for Kudus this January or at the end of this campaign.
