Liverpool will host Southampton as they welcome them to Anfield on Saturday to secure all three points in this home encounter. The Reds won the EFL cup third-round tie against Derby County on penalties by a scoreline of 3-2, so they will be hoping to produce a better result in the final match of the Premier League before heading into the Fifa World cup break.
Jurgen Klopp will set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a host of changes to his first XI for this game. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Ibrahima Konate could all get a chance to play from the start in this weekend’s fixture.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted XI Vs Southampton
Defence
Alisson Becker will feature in between the sticks for the Reds hoping to give a strong performance and keep a clean sheet. Ibrahima Konate could get a chance to play alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s backline as they look to stop the Saints from creating too many chances on the counter.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will return as the right-back while Andrew Robertson hopes to catch the eye as the left-back. Klopp would ask both his full-backs to play safety first and then, pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Joe Gomez will offer cover for the defensive positions as he takes a spot on the bench.
Midfield
Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho will anchor the midfield for Liverpool at the centre of the park. Both of them need to control the game collectively and create some decent chances in the final third.
The talented duo of Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott will operate just ahead of them as part of Jurgen Klopp’s attack. Salah and Elliott will have to provide support from the wide areas and cut inside to create chances in front of the goal.
Attack
Roberto Firmino and Darwin Nunez will lead the charge for the Merseyside giants on the attacking end of the field.
However, Diogo Jota is unlikely to recover in time for this match as well, so Klopp will remain short on attacking options.
