In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Manchester United are showing interest in Norwich City defender Max Aarons. It is understood that the Red Devils ar eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English full-back.
Aarons’ Impressive Form In English Football This Season
Aarons has made a solid start to this campaign as he has put in a series of impressive displays on the right side of Norwich’s defence. The 22-year-old has made 19 appearances for the Canaries this season, finding the back of the net on one occasion across multiple competitions.
The London-born talent has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.8 clearances, 0.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the English Championship. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from the right flank, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 82.9% in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contrat at Carrow Road is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Hence, Man United might have a good chance of recruiting him on the cheap this January or at the end of this campaign.
Is Aarons A Good Choice For Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag?
Aarons is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears the danger when needed and can make some driving runs with the ball down the right flank. The English talent can also engineer a handful of decent chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half.
We can expect Aarons to add more depth to Erik ten Hag‘s squad at Old Trafford if the Man United manager can find a way to get him on board next year.
Aarons is good enough to compete with Diogo Dalot for a regular starting spot at the Mancunian club. Plus, he will give ten Hag more options at the back which will help the Red Devils cope with fixture congestion better in the coming seasons.
At 22, Aarons has got a bright future ahead of him and could go on to become a future star at the Theatre of Dreams. He might even help the Mancunian club challenge for some major trophies over the next few years. All in all, Aarons will be a decent choice for Man United to consider during the January transfer window.
