Tottenham Hotspur faced off against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier today as they hoped to earn a good result in the North London derby. Spurs made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 20th minute when Thomas Partey scored with an excellent strike from long range. However, the visitors responded via Harry Kane’s penalty just 11 minutes later. Both teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Gabriel Jesus scored again for Arsenal just four minutes into the second half when he found the back of the net from close range. Emerson Royal was sent off in the 62nd minute before Granit Xhaka killed the game when he scored just five minutes later. Antonio Conte’s men ended up losing the contest by a 3-1 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham Hotspur player fared during the clash against the Gunners.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 6/10
The French keeper made a few important saves at the back but should have done better to prevent Jesus’ goal.
CB: Cristian Romero – 6/10
He looked shaky at the back and would be disappointed after conceding three goals today.
CB: Eric Dier – 6.5/10
The English defender made a few crucial last-gasp clearances and created two good chances going forward.
CB: Clement Lenglet – 5.5/10
He was far from convincing when defending inside his half and got replaced in the 70th minute.
RM: Emerson Royal – 5/10
Emerson worked hard defensively but let his teammates down by getting sent off in the second half.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 6/10
He anchored the midfield well at times but failed to get a foothold in the game in the Arsenal half.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 6/10
Bentancur offered decent protection for his backline but offered very little in the final third.
LM: Ivan Perisic – 6/10
He made one good moment in the first half and was mostly quiet in the second.
RAM: Richarlison – 6.5/10
Richarlison began the game brightly but was toothless in the final third.
LAM: Heung-min Son – 6/10
He had a couple of bright moments in the game but never threatened the Arsenal goal.
ST: Harry Kane – 6.5/10
The English striker was Spurs’ best weapon offensively and did well to score his penalty in the first half. However, he was mostly ineffective in the second 45 minutes.
Substitutes:
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 6/10
He kept things solid at the back.
CM: Yves Bissouma – 6/10
Bissouma offered very little after coming off the bench.
LM: Ryan Sessegnon – 6/10
He struggled to get into the rhythm of the game.
RM: Matt Doherty – 6/10
Doherty was mostly ineffective.
CM: Oliver Skipp – 6/10
He provided some energy to Antonio Conte’s midfield.
