Recent reports from the Mexican edition of Marca (via Corriere Dello Sport) state that Manchester United are in the mix to sign Napoli winger Hirving Lozano in the January transfer window as Erik Ten Hag looks set to add to his attacking options.
The Mexican forward is frustrated after losing his starting spot in Naples and is looking to switch clubs in January.
‘Chucky is dissatisfied with the minutes accumulated up to now at Napoli, in which Matteo Politano now seems to have become Spalletti’s favourite and would have started to launch the first signs of dissatisfaction. To follow the story with interest, above all, there would be Bayern Munich’. – The translated version of the report read.
‘Not only the German club. Lozano also likes RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, and in the Premier League at Manchester United and Everton. Napoli, however, would not be willing to open the table for any negotiations for less than 30 million Euros’.
Hirving Lozano’s contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium runs until July 2024.
Good Option For Ten Hag?
Having come through the ranks at Mexican club Pachuca, Lozano signed for SSC Napoli from PSV Eindhoven in August 2019 for a fee in the region of 40 million Euros. Over the course of the last four years, the 58-times Mexico international has recorded 121 appearances for Gli Azzurri, scoring twenty-six goals and assisting fourteen more across all competitions.
Despite being starved of regular game time this season, the 27-year-old has managed to put up some impressive numbers on the board – averaging 2.2 shots, 1.2 key passes, 1.3 dribbles, and one cross per ninety minutes in the Italian top-flight (calculated over 325 minutes).
Manchester United are in dire need of reinforcements in the attacking department – and Hirving Lozano fits the bill perfectly. Aged 27, he has plenty of experience under his belt and Erik ten Hag is already familiar with him from their time in the Eredivisie together. Hence, the board should go all out for his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
