In a recent report, Calciomercato offered an update on the future of on-loan West Ham United talent Nikola Vlasic. It has been mentioned that the Croatia playmaker’s loan employers, Torino are considering triggering the €15m purchase clause to sign him permanently from the Hammers next summer.
Vlasic’s Impressive Loan Spell In Italian Football This Season
Vlasic had made a promising start to his loan spell at Torino as he has already put in a few decent displays for them in the final third. The 24-year-old has banged in three goals in seven matches for the Italian side last season in Serie A.
The Croatia midfielder deserves a lot of credit for averaging 1.1 tackles, 2.1 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after making 80.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Vlasic’s current loan spell is set to run out at the end of this campaign. However, Torino could potentially pay his €15m purchase clause, which was set by West Ham, to seal a permanent move for the player next summer.
Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Let Vlasic Go This Summer?
Vlasic can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition. He has got the eye to play a decisive pass deep inside the opponent’s half and can make some decent runs with the ball going forward. Vlasic is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger on either flank if his manager tells him to do so. At 24, he has still got a long way to go as a footballer but we can expect him to get better when he hits his peak in the coming seasons.
The Croatia international has shown that he can be a good goal-scoring midfielder in Italian football. Therefore, it makes sense for Vlasic to opt for a permanent change of scenery when his loan spell expires next summer.
The Hammers have currently got no room for the Croat sensation in their squad. West Ham boss David Moyes has already got Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma and Manuel Lanzini fighting for a regular starting spot in his first XI.
Thus, the East London club can afford to let Vlasic go for €15m at the end of this campaign as he is surplus to requirements at the London Stadium.
