Netherlands will lock horns with Belgium at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Amsterdam on Sunday night, hoping to pick up a positive result on match day six of the UEFA Nations League campaign. Louis van Gaal’s side will be coming into the match on the back of an encouraging 2-0 victory over Poland, whereas the visitors recorded a 2-1 win against Wales.
Louis van Gaal will probably opt for the 5-3-2 formation with a couple of tweaks from the last game as Marten de Roon seems likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
5-3-2 Netherlands Predicted Lineup Vs Belgium
Defence
Remko Pasveer is expected to start in goal for the upcoming encounter. The Ajax shot-stopper would be looking to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Sunday.
Virgil van Dijk will continue to form the centre-half partnership with Jurrien Timber and Nathan Ake at the heart of the Netherlands’ backline.
Denzel Dumfries is a guaranteed starter at the right-wing back position, whereas Daley Blind will fill in on the other flank as the left-wing back. The duo would be expected to stretch their side’s attack on either flank.
Matthijs de Ligt will have to settle for a place on the bench but could be brought on in the latter stages of the game if needed.
Midfield
Marten de Roon and Frenkie de Jong will slot in as the central midfielders. The pair would be looking to put up a strong performance and dominate the midfield proceedings against Belgium.
Cody Gakpo seems likely to start as the attacking midfielder. The PSV star has been in brilliant form this season, and he’d be determined to add to his tally on Sunday.
Attack
Steven Bergwijn is expected to partner Steven Berghuis up top as the secondary striker. The duo would hope to get their names on the scoresheet when they face off against the Belgium defence that has conceded seven goals in the tournament so far.
