Inter Milan will entertain Bayern Munich at San Siro on Wednesday night as they look to earn all three points at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Italian outfit suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of AC Milan in the Milan derby last weekend, so they will be eager to grind out a better result in this midweek game.
Simone Inzaghi will probably opt for a 3-5-2 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, Lautaro Martinez will lead the charge alongside Joaquin Correa in the final third.
3-5-2 Inter Milan Predicted Lineup To Face Bayern Munich
Defence
Samir Handanović will keep his spot in goal for Inter Milan despite conceding three goals in the Milan derby last weekend. Inzaghi could choose to name a back three of Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni for this European contest versus Bayern. All three of them need to defend their lines well if the Italian side are to pick up a positive result in midweek.
Danilo D’Ambrosio will provide cover for the centre-half positions on the bench.
Midfield
Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella will anchor the midfield for Inter as they try to establish their superiority over Bayern at the centre of the park. Calhanoglu will have to find a way to be creative in and around the opponent’s penalty box while Inzaghi would depend on Brozovic to put in another impressive display following his goal-scoring performance in the Milan derby recently.
Mateo Darmian could get another chance to impress as the left-sided wing-back while Denzel Dumfries looks to put in another tireless shift from the right. Both Inter wing-backs have to find a way to get in behind the opposition backline on the counter and create some decent chances up top.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan will have to settle for a place on the bench but could come on to give a good account of himself as a second-half substitute if required.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Joaquin Correa will lead the line alongside his Argentine teammate, Lautaro Martinez on the attacking end of the field. Both of them need to be sharp with their movements in and around the Bayern penalty box this Wednesday night.
Edin Dzeko will be named on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the latter stages if Inzaghi decides to call upon his services.
