Manchester City clashed heads with Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this evening as they hoped to earn all three points on the road. Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the game in the first half but failed to take any of their chances as they went into the half-time break with a 0-0 scoreline.
Erling Haaland broke the deadlock in the 50th minute with an easy finish from close range. However, Leon Bailey scored the all-important equaliser with a composed finish in the 74th minute. The contest ended with Man City being held to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the clash against the Villans.
GK: Ederson – 6/10
The Brazilian keeper didn’t have a save to make in the game and will be disappointed for conceding a late goal.
RB: Kyle Walker – 6.5/10
He was strong in the air and made one good chance in the opponent’s half.
CB: John Stones – 6.5/10
Stones made a couple of important defensive contributions but failed to keep a clean sheet.
CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10
The Portuguese talent won his fair share of aerial duels and mopped up the danger really well at the back.
LB: Joao Cancelo – 7/10
He earned the ball back twice and was quite lively in the final third.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 8/10
The Belgian international created a lot of great chances for others around him and was unfortunate to hit the crossbar. However, he has got an assist to show for his efforts after setting up Haaland’s goal with a good cross.
CM: Rodri – 6.5/10
He went close to scoring with a good strike that grazed past the target. Rodri hardly had to do any defending today.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 6.5/10
Gundogan created two good chances in the final third but never got a sniff at goal.
RW: Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10
He had a couple of bright moments in the game but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
ST: Erling Haaland – 7.5/10
Haaland was a constant threat in the final third and was there at the right place to give Man City the lead in the 50th minute.
LW: Phil Foden – 6.5/10
He was quiet for most of the game and didn’t look like he would find the back of the net.
Substitutes:
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 6/10
Mahrez offered very little after coming on in the 72nd minute.
CB: Nathan Ake – 6/10
Ake kept things tidy at the back.
