Arsenal will finally look to get over with the exasperating week that they earned following a shameful performance at Etihad when they host West Brom on the Boxing Day. After two successive defeats to Everton and City, Christmas would understandably be a difficult time to celebrate and Arsenal players did well to cancel all festivities.
The Gunners start a series of easy fixtures with nine points behind league leaders Chelsea and will hope to climb up the table faster than they slipped down. Their record against the Baggies remain a positive one and could just help Arsenal psychologically.
The Gunners have lost one of their last 11 league games against West Brom and the last time they played against Arsenal on a Boxing Day was back in 2002 when the Gunners came back from a goal down to win 2-1.
Another interesting fact, which just might encourage them a bit, is that Arsenal haven’t lost three successive matches in the league since 2012.
Here is our Predicted 4-2-3-1 Arsenal Lineup Vs West Brom.
Defence
Petr Cech hasn’t had the best of games this season. Although Arsenal have failed to keep clean sheets in their last seven games, they mostly won them barring the last two. He will expect things to smoothen up.
Arsenal have badly missed Shkodran Mustafi in their last two games at the back. Although Gabriel is decent in ball interception and athleticism, his technique on the ball is quite poor and with the ball at his feet, the Brazilian looks nervy.
Despite Laurent Koscielny’s heroic efforts, the Gunners went down in the last two games and Wenger will hope Gabriel shows better composure this time.
The right flank role will be taken by Hector Bellerin. He has been one of the rare positives for the team and will be having huge responsibility covering Matt Philips.
Nacho Monreal didn’t have the best of games against Sterling last week and Wenger is now expected to field Kieran Gibbs this time.
