Liverpool will entertain Newcastle United at Anfield this Wednesday night as they looked to pick up another home win in the Premier League. The Reds hammered Bournemouth by a 9-0 scoreline last Saturday which will give them some much-needed confidence ahead of this midweek league clash.
Jurgen Klopp will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and could stick the same first team for this game. Mohamed Salah failed to register a goal versus the Cherries, so he will be eager to impress from the right wing.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Alisson Becker will continue to feature in between the sticks for the Merseyside club after securing a clean sheet in his last league outing. Joe Gomez will continue to play alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s backline as they try to stop the Magpies from scoring during the 90 minutes.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will hope to put in an influential display once again from the right-back position while Andrew Robertson could keep his place at left-back. Klopp will ask both of them to stretch the pitch and create enough chances for the front players to win this game.
Kostas Tsimikas and Nathaniel Phillips will offer cover for the defensive positions on Klopp’s bench.
Midfield
Klopp will opt for a midfield comprised of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Harvey Elliott for this contest at Anfield. However, Elliott is a slight doubt for this game as he continues to recover from a knock.
Both Henderson and Fabinho will be responsible for dominating possession at the centre of the park while Elliott looks to join in on the attack at every chance he gets.
James Milner will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Luis Diaz will definitely keep his place on the left flank while Mohamed Salah looks to put in a goal-scoring performance from the right.
Darwin Nunez is suspended for this game, so Roberto Firmino will continue to spearhead Liverpool’s attack down the middle. The Brazilian forward had a terrific game last Saturday and would be looking forward to putting in a similar display versus the Magpies in midweek.
Fabio Carvalho will be named on the bench as he awaits his opportunity to make an impact as a late-game substitute if the Reds are in need of a goal by then.
