In a recent report, The Evening Standard claimed that Everton are showing interest in Watford speedster Ismaila Sarr this summer. It has been mentioned that the Toffees are eyeing a move for the Senegalese winger.
Sarr’s Decent Numbers At Vicarage Road Last Season
Sarr had a decent campaign with the Hornets as he managed to produce a series of impressive performances for them in the final third. However, he has sometimes struggled to be productive which explains why he has only scored five goals and grabbed two assists in 22 appearances for Watford last season across multiple competitions.
The Senegal international was a consistent performer on the attacking end of the field based on his average of 1.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 77.5% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Sarr is under contract at the Hertfordshire club until the summer of 2024. Hence, it won’t be easy for Everton to snap him up before the end of this transfer window.
What Will Sarr Add To Everton Boss Frank Lampard’s Team?
Sarr has got the pace to cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks. He can complete some dangerous dribbles in the opposition half and can strike the ball with a lot of power from long range. Sarr mainly operates on the right wing but can even function as a left-sided wide player or function as a striker down the middle if needed.
The Senegalese sensation can even engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates up top. Hence, he would be a decent acquisition for the Toffees this summer. At 24, the Watford star will only get better in the coming seasons which makes him a good option for Everton to pursue this month.
We can expect Sarr to add a lot of pace and a handful of goals to Frank Lampard‘s attack at Goodison Park. Plus, he could help the Merseyside club push for a top-half finish in the Premier League this season.
All in all, Everton should undoubtedly focus on trying everything they can to bring Sarr to the blue half of Merseyside during this summer transfer window. He will give Lampard more options in the final third and could serve as a good replacement for Richarlison who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
