In a recent tweet, reliable journalist Gerard Romero stated that Chelsea are eyeing a move for Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. It has been claimed that the Blues have identified the Gabon international as a target for this ongoing transfer window.

Aubameyang’s Impressive Spell At The Nou Camp
Since joining from Arsenal back in January, Aubameyang has enjoyed a decent spell with Barca as he has managed to bang in a handful of important goals for them during this calendar year. The Gabon marksman found the back of the net 13 times and earned one assist in 23 matches for Barca last season in various competitions.
The 33-year-old was a decent finisher up top but struggled to contribute in other meaningful ways after he averaged 2.2 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per game in La Liga. Aubameyang is an experienced forward who can still be a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal. He is proficient at generating space for himself to get a few shots in on target. The Gabon talent can even create some promising chances for others around him when he is playing well on the pitch.
The former Premier League marksman is primarily a centre-forward but can even function as a winger on either flank if required. However, father time is slowly catching up with his game which could be why he is becoming somewhat inconsistent in top-flight football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting him.
At 33, Aubameyang could be a good, short-term signing for the Blues to consider this month as they need to add more quality to their frontline. He will bring a lot of goals to Thomas Tuchel‘s attack at Stamford Bridge and could serve as a fine replacement for Romelu Lukaku who joined Inter Milan on loan earlier this summer.
The Laval-born talent knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life in England if Chelsea can successfully bring him on board before the end of this summer transfer window.
