In a recent report, The Athletic stated that Aston Villa defender Kortney Hause is on the radar of Watford this summer. It has been claimed that the Villans’ centre-back is being eyed by the Hornets during this summer transfer window.
Hause’s Sporadic Role At Villa Park Last Season
Hause struggled to make himself a prominent member of Steven Gerrard’s match-day squad last season. The English defensive ace failed to earn enough first-team chances as he ended up making just nine appearances for the Villans in the previous campaign, scoring one goal across all competitions.
The Redbridge-born talent is in dire need to switch clubs if he wants to get his career back on track. Hause is currently surplus to requirements as he has fallen behind Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and now, Diego Carlos in Gerrard’s pecking order.
Should Aston Villa Boss Steven Gerrard Let Hause Go?
Hause is a good tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions inside his half when he is playing regularly on the pitch. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed. Standing at 1.91m, the English sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He has even got a wealth of experience at the highest level but has to find a way to play a more prominent role in English football.
However, things have not worked out for him at Villa Park so far as he has struggled to earn any meaningful playing time in recent campaigns. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for Aston Villa to cut him loose during this summer transfer window. At 27, Hause is enjoying his peak years at the moment and could benefit a lot from switching clubs before the start of the new campaign.
The Villans should also think about cutting off some deadwood as they are currently well-stocked in the defensive department following the arrival of Diego Carlos from Sevilla earlier this summer. With all things considered, Gerrard should focus on letting Hause leave if he doesn’t plan to use him often in the upcoming campaign.
