In a recent report, Tutto Juve claimed that Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is on the radar of Juventus this summer. It is understood that the Turin giants want to sign the Brazilian striker from the Reds during this summer transfer window.
Firmino’s Up And Down Season At Merseyside
Firmino had a campaign of mixed emotions as he won two domestic trophies with the Merseyside outfit but failed to make himself a regular starter in Jurgen Klopp’s first XI. The experienced forward made 35 appearances for the Reds last season, netting 11 goals and earning five assists across all fronts.
The 30-year-old saw a lot of playing minutes come as a substitute which could be why he only averaged 1.5 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 78.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Should Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Cash In On Firmino This Summer?
Firmino loves to link up play with others around him and can set up a few clear-cut chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch. The Brazilian talent is primarily a centre-forward but can even play in the number ten position if his manager tells him to do so. He can even chip in by scoring a goal every now and then but is far from a prolific forward.
Still, there is no denying Firmino’s immense role behind Liverpool‘s recent success under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp. With just a year left to run in his current contract at Anfield, the Reds could be tempted to sell him for a cut-price fee this summer or else risk losing him as a free agent next summer.
It would be unwise for Klopp to cash in on Firmino unless he has already got a replacement lined up this summer. The Merseyside club would be better off keeping hold of the Brazilian marksman for another season as he is good enough to rival Darwin Nunez for a regular starting spot in Klopp’s first XI.
