In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech is on the radar of AC Milan this summer. It has been revealed that the Milan giants have set their sights on the Blues’ talent in this off-season.
Ziyech’s Decent Season At Stamford Bridge
Ziyech struggled to be consistent with his offensive productivity at times in the previous campaign but did well to catch the eye with his performances in the final third. The 29-year-old found the back of the net on eight occasions and picked up six assists in 44 matches for the West London outfit last season on all fronts.
The Morocco international performed well to average 2.3 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 81.2% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Should Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel Cut Ziyech Loose This Summer?
Ziyech is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some clever turns in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the final third and can strike the ball well from long range.
The Morocco talent can keep possession moving in tight spaces and is currently playing at his peak. At 29, the gifted wing wizard has only got a few good years left in him to play at a high level. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player or as a box-to-box midfielder if his manager needs him to do so.
However, the arrival of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City could see his first-team chances take a hit once again if the player decides to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond this summer.
At the moment, Ziyech is in dire need of regular starts, so it makes sense for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to cut him loose in this off-season. The Blues could use the money generated from his potential sale to improve other areas of their match-day squad during this summer transfer period.
