In a recent report, Sport revealed that Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has been offered a two-year contract amid recent speculation over his future in the Spanish capital. It has been claimed that Los Blancos have offered the Spaniard a two-year contract extension to keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium beyond this summer.
Ceballos’s Limited Role In Spanish Football Last Season
Ceballos played a sporadic role for the Madrid giants last season as he struggled to get enough playing time under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti. The 25-year-old picked up one assist in 18 matches for Los Blancos in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.
The 11-time Spain international made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he averaged 0.9 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in La Liga. At least he was tidy with his ball distribution after making 91.9% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Ceballos Offered A Two-Year Contract By Real Madrid: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Ceballos is an energetic midfielder who can make a few clever runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area. The Spaniard has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates in the attacking end of the field but needs to add a few goals to his game if he wants to be a regular feature in top-flight football.
Still, there is no denying that Ceballos served as a decent squad player for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side last season. Thus, it makes sense for both the player and Los Blancos to extend their time together in search of more success over the next couple of years.
At 25, Ceballos’s best years are ahead of him as long as he continues to improve with each season. Hence, the Real Madrid midfield ace will have a great resale value in the future. All in all, the Spaniard should extend his contract as it will be a good move for both the player and the Madrid club this summer.
