Jurgen Klopp has admitted that the return of Daniel Sturridge and Emre Can has provided a huge boost to Liverpool.
Both the players returned against Everton after a brief injury layoff. Sturridge played his first game almost after a month and had been involved in the only goal of the match. His shot struck the post and on the rebound, Sadio Mane tapped the ball in to give the Reds an edge over the Toffees.
The striker had started training a few days ago and was one of the surprise inclusion in the squad.
Can, on the other hand, returned from a knee injury after missing two matches against West Ham and Middlesbrough. Liverpool are currently third in the points table and will entertain Stoke City in their next match.
Klopp said, “It was very important [to have them back].
“Daniel, [had] trained only two times, so we were really waiting for the moment when we could use him, [then] the game was for him at the end. Twice training is not the biggest intensity.
“It was pretty much the same for Emre, who trained a little bit longer and didn’t have a long break.
“It’s very important they are back. We need these options to change to do some things in and around a game. It’s good.”
