In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowksi this summer. It has been mentioned that the Catalan giants are willing to offer €32m plus €5m in add-ons for the Polish striker during this summer transfer window.
Lewandowski’s Impressive Goal-Scoring Record At The Allianz Arena
Lewandowski led the line well for Bayern last season as he continued to score goals for fun for them at the highest level. The 33-year-old scored 50 goals and secured seven assists in 46 matches for the German club in the previous campaign in all competitions.
The 131-time Poland international performed well to average 4.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He was even tidy with his link-up play in the attacking end of the field, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 77.4% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Is Lewandowski A Good Choice For Barcelona Boss Xavi?
Lewandowski is still a prolific goal-getter in the final third as he got the poacher’s instincts inside the opponent’s penalty box. He can generate a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target and is also proficient at creating some decent chances deep inside the opposition half.
At 33, Lewandowski might still have a few good years left in him to play at the top of his game. Hence, he will be a good, short-term choice for Barca this summer.
We can expect the Polish legend to add plenty of goals to Xavi‘s frontline and even help the Catalan club challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
Lewandowski will be an upgrade over Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Nou Camp because of his reliability in front of the opposition goal. Therefore, Xavi should try everything he can to try to get the Bayern Munich superstar on board ahead of the new season.
