Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola thinks that the victory over Arsenal could be the momentum they were looking for.
City came back from one goal down to win the crucial encounter 2-1. Theo Walcott’s first-half opener was cancelled by Leroy Sane who scored his first goal for the English side since his arrival from Schalke. He equalised from a David Silva Pass while Sterling scored a belter to give the home side their first win since 17th September.
City overtook Liverpool in the table but the Merseyside club will have a chance to get back to the second place when they face Everton on tonight. City lost back to back matches to Chelsea and Leicester City but defeated Watford in the last match to get back to winning ways.
Chelsea are currently unbeaten in the last 11 games and Guardiola hopes that the Blues will eventually falter at some stage and his side capitalise on that.
“Against Middlesbrough, Everton and Chelsea we deserved more. Today we won – that’s why we’re so happy. Seven points is a huge distance, they made 11 victories in a row so I just want to say congratulations for that.
“But at least [we want] to be there as much as possible, waiting for the opponent to fail sometimes and waiting for the last part of the season to be there and fight for the title.”
