In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona are hoping to recruit Borussia Dortmund full-back, Raphael Guerreiro, this summer. It has been revealed that the Catalans are even willing to wait until the Portuguese talent becomes a free agent in the summer of 2023.
Guerreiro’s Impressive Run Of Form At Signal Iduna Park
Guerreiro is having a productive season in German football as he has produced a handful of promising performances on the left side of Dortmund’s defence. The France-born talent has been involved in 27 matches for the German club this season, scoring five goals and securing four assists in various competitions.
The Portuguese sensation has given a good account of himself at both ends of the field by averaging 1.5 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.5 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the left flank, based on his pass completion rate of 85.2% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Snap Guerreiro Up This Summer?
Guerreiro has established himself as a decent defender at the back as he is usually quick to react to the danger and can time his tackles well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. The Portuguese full-back doesn’t take too many chances when clearing the danger inside his half. Guerreiro is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-winger or as a box-to-box midfielder if required.
The Dortmund star has also chipped in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. Thus, he will be a great fit for the Catalan giants this summer or at the end of next season.
Either way, Barca boss Xavi should prioritise on getting Guerreiro on board as he will be a great successor to Jordi Alba at the Nou Camp. All in all, it makes sense for Barca to snap the Portuguese left-back up during the summer transfer window as he has what it takes to help Barca challenge for a major trophy or two in the coming seasons.
