Manchester City move up to the second spot as they compounded Arsenal’s misery and came from behind to beat them 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium. The match started off to the by-now familiar sight of the ball rolling past Claudio Bravo but that was his only involvement as he was rendered unemployed by the impotent Arsenal attackers.
Walcott wheeled away after giving the Gunners an early lead within 5 minutes but second half goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling deemed it inconsequential.
Let us take a look at how the Manchester City players performed.
BRAVO- 6/10
Conceded an early goal but thankfully even Neuer would have conceded that. But surprisingly had nothing to do after that. His passing was also more balanced today.
ZABALETA- 5/10
Two games within 4 days did him no good. Struggled against Iwobi and Monreal although he was not put under too much pressure. Was not a threat going forward. Replaced by Sagna at half-time.
OTAMENDI- 6.5/10
Struggled initially and left a gaping hole between him and Kolarov for Walcott to receive Sanchez’s pass. Was nervy in the first half but improved drastically in the 2nd period. Was strong and assertive.
KOLAROV- 6.5/10
Same story as Otamendi. A difficult first half with Sanchez, Walcott and Bellerin running at him but was calmer and along with the team improved.
CLICHY- 6.5/10
A balanced game from the ex-Arsenal man. Had to stay back a bit more in the first half to deal with Arsenal’s counters. But literally spent the next half in the opponent’s half.
