In a recent report, The Sun revealed that Manchester City are keeping a keen eye on Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount. It is believed that the Mancunian outfit will have to rival Liverpool in pursuit of the English midfield ace.
Mount’s Impressive Run Of Form In English Football
Mount is having a decent campaign at Stamford Bridge after putting in a run of influential displays as a key member of Thomas Tuchel’s attack. The 23-year-old has registered 12 goals and 15 assists in 49 matches for the Blues this season across all fronts.
The Portsmouth-born talent has given a good account of himself at the centre of the park as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 2.2 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.4 crosses per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution as evidenced by his pass success rate of 85.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Is Mount A Dream Option For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Mount is a solid tackler of the ball and can whip in some dangerous crosses into the opposition penalty box. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can even create some inviting openings for his teammates in the final third.
Mount is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger down the left flank if needed. The England international has been consistent with his end product in the opposition half and hardly gives away the ball cheaply in the attacking end of the field.
A playmaker of Mount’s skillet will be a dream option for Man City boss Pep Guardiola to consider during this summer transfer window. We can expect the England international to add more goals and creativity to Guardiola’s midfield at the Etihad Stadium.
At 23, Mount will only get better with each season, so the Mancunian giants would be wise to engineer a move to bring the Chelsea star to the northwest of England ahead of the new campaign. He is undoubtedly good enough to help Man City win even more silverware over the next few years.
